FAQ's

Q: #1. IS MY PLEDGE AMOUNT PUBLICLY DISPLAYED?

A: NO.

Only Kickstarter, Amazon and I will be able to see your pledge amount.

Q: #2. WHY DO SOME REWARD LEVELS OFFER FROM 5 TO 500 Four Disc Children's Collection?
A: As stated - it is our hope that you will gift/donate them to parties in your community.

You can actually get a tax benefit if you donate them to a non-profit organization. Remember they retail for $72.99 each, thus you should check with your tax adviser, as you may be able to write-off your entire Pledge, or at least a large portion of it.

You also reserve the right to sell them, should you be so inclined, or use them for a fundraiser. The songs are all original with the books tied directly to songs; and the character's DVD poem's cadence is designed for memorizing and is incorporated with fun yet subtle educational features.

Q: #3. CAN I INCREASE MY PLEDGE AFTER I MAKE MY INITIAL PLEDGE?

A: YES.

Once you donate to the campaign, you may want to change your incentive reward to a different one, or increase your pledge amount. To do so, come back to the project page and sign in. The green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with a blue “Manage Your Donation” button. Click it and you can enter a new amount, or choose a new incentive.

Q: #4. WHAT IS THE "ESTIMATED DELIVERY: SEPTEMBER 2012" ALL ABOUT?

A: Kickstarter says for pledge levels with multiple rewards to input the date the LAST reward will be delivered, which can be a bit confusing. To be clear: if this campaign is successful, there will be no delays and ALL rewards for your level of support will go out together (we are allowing for a final Pledge Date of approx. May 10th, thus September 2012 will provide ample time for shooting and editing, and then the shipping of the Rewards) We'll be looking to shorten that time frame if possible.

Don't worry if you move in the meantime, just let us know via email -- we'll contact you when the time comes to find out where to send the rewards.

Q: #5. HAVE WE INCLUDED KICKSTARTER'S (5%) AND AMAZON'S (3-5%) FEES INTO OUR BUDGET? HOW ABOUT TAXES ON THIS INCOME?

A: YES.

The taxes won't be too onerous since we have accumulated legitimate business losses (which will offset all income) as a result of the years of research, development, legal and other customary business expenses necessary to maintain a company during the anticipated non-income generating periods (e.g., if we exceed our pledge goal by 150-400% we'd still not have any significant tax consequence).

Official Notice from KickStarter

Amazon will hold funds for 14 days after payments are collected, and it takes up to five business days for funds to transfer to your bank account. Please plan accordingly.

If your project is successfully funded, Kickstarter will apply a 5% fee to the funds raised, and Amazon will apply credit card processing fees (between 3-5%). If funding isn't successful, there are no fees.

Q: #6. GIVE ME SOME IDEA AS TO HOW YOU WILL SPEND THE MONEY ($97,000)?

A: Yes, I'd be happy to!

Upon netting approx. $87,000 to $89,000 (after fees of $7,760 to $9,700) we will use it for:

1. Shooting, Editing, Music/Sound mixing, off-set spots for the film (approx. $45,000);

2. Rewards fulfillment (approx. $35,000);

3. Location Rent - We will rent the location, since Ms. Lewis' actual preschools (from which we will use some small clips) aren't large enough for the "effect" we want for a professional film production, e.g., low ceilings, lighting issues, limited panning views, difficult & limited shooting spaces for the Filmmaker & crew, etc.(approx. $500);

4. Catering. We will have finger foods available during all shoots (approx. $300);

5. Transportation. We will be moving furniture, props and equipment from Ms. Lewis' preschools to the shoot location and back during filming (approx. $700);

6. Insurance Rider. We will require a rider on the preschools existing policy to include any away activity such as a film shoot on a weekend with children who are registered as Ms. Lewis' preschool attendants (approx. $200 depending on selection of location);

7. Promotion & Advertising. Once the film is completed we will be sending the FREE download notifications to all of the organizations, agencies & providers mentioned; posting ads in the industry publications; buying email list of various industry organization membership roles, etc. (approx. $5000);

8. Paid staff. To avoid labor law exposure, any staff from Ms. Lewis' preschools will be paid at their overtime rate; cleaning crew, security (approx. $600);

9. Social Media Expert. Someone who will promote our film on YouTube, Facebook & Twitter. (approx. $500)

TOTAL: $ 87,800.00

I hope this initial breakdown shows where the money will go to your satisfaction? You'll notice there's no "Payment for Ms. Lewis or Jay Johnson" line item listed, because we will NOT be accepting any payment or fees for this projects efforts - we are NOT staff either.

The production of this independent documentary film is NOT about profits for us. It's about providing our Emotional Literacy learning system to the citizenry of the USA & Canada, i.e., branding our learning system; and making sure we stay on path for our ultimate goal, i.e., to place our learning system in over 100,000 preschools in the USA & Canada for FREE.

$87,000 to $89,000 is going to be tight, but we will make due if we don't get blessed with exceeding our Pledge Goal (frankly, a great deal of good could be accomplished with an outcome above our Pledge Goal).

So we're going to be pinching pennies every step of the way (as we have for years). You will find NO congressional style "pork" in our budget -- your contribution, no matter how small, will make all of the difference in our progress, and we thank you.

Q: #7. WHAT IF WE RAISE MORE THAN THE $97,000 PLEDGE GOAL?

A: We actually have a "plan" we'd like to share with you, just in case we are fortunate enough to do so. The $97,000.00 goal will not allow for a "profit," however, we will pledge to the KickingItForward organization 5% of ALL amounts over our Pledge Goal.

If we raise $98,000 to $150,000: If we exceed by at least $50,000 we will add six [6] more audio books to the 4-Disc Children's Collection. Then, we will start donating our Four Disc Children’s Collection http://www.funfactoryeducationcorp.com/images/graphics/ach2702insertdh.jpg to the over 500 licensed daycare/preschool/head start programs in our county via the childcare agencies already in place for decades (we'll document all of these donations) and with whom Ms. Lewis has previously dealt (many of which have witnessed her system in action during periodic facility inspection visits). PLUS our KickingItForward pledge will be honored.

If we raise $200,000: We will continue donating our Four Disc Children’s Collection, in addition to retaining a part-time social media expert to help us get Fun Factory Education and Professor Frisky von Onion Bagel, S.D. (Super Doggy) more known across America & Canada. PLUS our KickingItForward pledge will be honored.

If we raise $250,000: In addition to the above goals, we will concentrate on retaining a professional talent/business/media agent to help us lobby some “A List” celebrities who would fit well with our program’s ambitions, e.g., which is to donate our entire learning system to over 100,000 preschools in the USA & Canada; finding a Producer interested in the play we’ve drafted (One Day, One Day: The Story of Gravity Free University); Children's TV show or TV special based on Emotional Literacy, etc. PLUS our KickingItForward pledge will be honored.

If we raise $300,000: In addition to the above goals, we will set up a Teaching Program to have a F/T Instructor teach & certify approx. 50 Preschools (approx. one per week in the Tri-city Tampa Bay area) in the use of our entire learning system over a one year period. This same Instructor will be taught by Marilyn Lewis and we foresee her being the initial National Instructor who will duplicate herself many times over. PLUS our KickingItForward pledge will be honored.

If we raise $350,000: In addition to the above goals, we will retain a F/T Social Media Expert and Entertainment Agency to increase our search for the “right” celebrities to match up with our programs (e.g., targeted branding, songs, audio books, etc.). PLUS our KickingItForward pledge will be honored.

If we raise $400,000 to $500,000: A continuance of all of the above on a significantly more expansive and rapid scale. PLUS our KickingItForward pledge will be honored.

Q: #8. WOULD YOU CONSIDER SPEAKING WITH A "PLEDGER" ABOUT SOME OF YOUR GOALS (a willingness to consider outside suggestions)?

A: We certainly would, particularly regarding the areas we expressed in our presentation's "HOW ELSE CAN YOU HELP OUR EFFORT?" Our vision allows room for others to make a contribution in ways other than pledging money.

Q: #9. IF I PLEDGE $1,000, $2,500, $5,000 OR $10,000, WHICH WOULD QUALIFY ME TO BE INVOLVED DURING THE SHOOTING, HOW MUCH NOTICE WILL I RECEIVE BEFORE THE DAY OF THE SHOOT?

A: Depending on what level of involvement, you would be given at least a ten (10) day notice, however, we will aim for two weeks as our minimum notice period. We'll also communicate by email and phone with you. One certainty is that the shoots will be on a Saturday.

Q: #10. WHAT IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR REWARDS, AND JUST WISH TO SUPPORT THIS PROJECT?

A: That is fine, but before selecting the button that indicates that you do not wish to receive the reward, you might consider giving it to someone you know. Just let us know and we will work with you. Also, if you want some of the rewards but not everything listed at a given level, that's fine too, but again we sugest that you give it to someone who'll make use of it. Thanks!
